Police Memorial Service Weekend begins April 26

Police Memorial Service Weekend will begin with an officers Appreciation Dinner 6 p.m. Friday, April 26, at the Eldridge Community Center, 400 S. 16th Ave., Eldridge.
A Quad-Cities Area Police Memorial Service, will be 1 p.m. Sunday, April 28. The first part of the event begins at Heritage Church, 2700 Middle Road, Bettendorf.
Local police agencies will be attending the service. The general public is also invited to attend the memorial service for the local fallen 46 police officers. Highlights include a video presentation, special music, and opening remarks by Secret Service Agent Bill Albrecht, retired.
After the first part of the service is completed at Heritage, a motorcade will travel from the church to the Rock Island County Justice Center. This is the site of the police memorial. At approximately 3:10 pm the second part wreath ceremony. In addition, Rock Island County Sheriff Jeff Boyd will welcome the participant's at this site in Rock Island. It is here that the Gold Star Families and representative police agencies will place a carnation on the law enforcement wreath. The service should conclude around 3:30 p.m. In the event of rain or severe weather, the entire event is held inside the church.
