Seniors can learn how to use computer
High school students get hands-on learning at BHC -- Black Hawk College hosted 50 Rock Island and United Township high school students on April 12 for a Health Care Program Career Exploration Event. Brandi Turner, a UTHS student, learns how to draw blood from a fake arm with guidance from Betsey Morthland, BHC interim dean of health sciences. The students participated in hands-on sessions to learn about the college’s physical therapist assistant, nursing, massage therapy, medical assisting and emergency medical services programs.
Seniors can become familiar with a computer in the Black Hawk College class, Getting Started with Your Computer.
This Golden Opportunities class is especially for those 55 or older, but all adult learners are welcome.
The class will be from 12:15 to 2:15 p.m. Mondays, April 29 and May 6, at the college's Outreach Center in East Moline. The cost is $28.

Create presentations, adjust photos with BHC classes
Learn how to create a PowerPoint presentation, adjust photos in Adobe Photoshop Lightroom and create marketing materials in Publisher with classes at Black Hawk College.
Introduction to Publisher will meet from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays, April 30 to May 14. The cost is $35.

Learn QuickBooks accounting in three weeks at BHC
Black Hawk College is offering a three-week Accounting Made Easy Using QuickBooks course especially for small businesses.
Sessions will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays, May 4-18, at the Illinois workNet Center in Moline.

New evening session of BHC Swim School in May
Black Hawk College is offering a new evening Swim School session for youths in May.
Classes will be Mondays and Wednesdays, May 13-29. Choose from 5:15 to 6 p.m., 6:15 to 7 p.m. or 7:15 to 8 p.m. The cost is $38 for five classes. No classes will be held on Memorial Day.
Youth ages 4-15 can learn how swim or improve their skills at the BHC Community Aquatic Center, 6600 34th Ave., Moline.
