Heaton named to Capital One Academic All-District team

Augustana senior pitcher Ben Heaton wasa leader for the Vikings both on and off the field his entire career. His rewarded for that combination was being selected to the Capital One Academic All-District Team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America. The right-handed Heaton has put together good numbers for veteran head coach Greg Wallace's 16th ranked Vikings this season. He has compiled a 4-1 record with a 2.44 earned run average in 51 2/3 innings of work. He has one complete game and one shutout. During his career at Augustana he has a record of 15-4 with a 3.34 earned run average in 23 starts with four shutouts. He currently ranks ninth on the school's all-time list in ERA and he has worked 150 innings with 94 strikeouts. An accounting and finance major with a 3.84 grade point average, Heaton has been nominated for an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship. He is a member of the Omicron Delta Kappa national leadership fraternity and earlier this year he was voted the "Outstanding Accounting Student" at Augustana.
