Rock Island - Western Illinois Area Agency on Aging sponsors the Living and Learning series of free educational sessions covering various topics, designed for senior citizens, caregivers, and any others who are interested. Melissa Uzzell from Melissa Uzzell Elder Law PC will be presenting on such topics as Veteran's benefits, possible resources to pay for long term care, and recent changes to Medicaid.

The Western Illinois Area Agency on Aging is a non-profit corporation created for the purpose of improving the quality of life for older Americans. The specific objectives of the agency are threefold: to enable older adults to live in their own homes as long as possible with appropriate supportive services; to remove individual and social barriers to economic and personal independence for older persons including the provision of opportunities for employment and volunteer activities; and to act as an advocate for older persons in developing community resources for the aged throughout the ten county area while providing a comprehensive service network. Counties included in the agency's jurisdiction are Bureau, Henderson, Henry, Knox, LaSalle, McDonough, Mercer, Putnam, Rock Island, and Warren. E.O.E.
