Rivermont Collegiate is the highest-ranking college prep school on the 2013 Iowa AP Index!

The University of Iowa's Institute for Research and Policy (IRPA), a unit of the Belin-Blank Center, has released the results of the 2013 Iowa AP Index. Rivermont Collegiate's 2013 Index of 4.71 places us as the highest-ranking college prep school.

What is the Iowa AP Index?
The Belin-Blank Center annually releases the Iowa AP Index to recognize high schools for providing Advanced Placement
opportunities. The 2013 Iowa AP Index is based on May 2012 AP exams and 2012 graduation data. The formula is the number of AP exams given divided by the number of students in the graduating class.
Why isn't Rivermont recognized in the Top 50 Schools on the AP Index?
Magnet schools, Specially Accredited College Preparatory schools (Rivermont Collegiate), non-accredited schools, and home schools are not included in the AP Index Top 50 ranking with public and nonpublic schools. This change took effect in 2008. These schools, however, can receive special recognition for their score, as Rivermont has.
If Rivermont is not included in the AP Index ranking, how can it be compared with local schools and Iowa overall?
All schools are scored using the same formula, so numerical scores provide a clear comparison, whether schools are included in the AP Index Top 50 ranking or not. The following table compares Rivermont's score with local schools in the Top 50 ranking.

Rivermont places second in the state overall on the 2013 Index, behind Des Moines Central
Academy (a magnet school also not included in the Top 50 ranking).
Rivermont has placed in the top four in the state overall every year it has participated in the AP Index.
