Press release submitted by Western IL Area Agency on Aging
Rock Island, Illinois – The Western Illinois Area Agency on Aging (WIAAA) is announcing the release of its FY 2014 Public Information Document. This document serves as a summary of the Agency's FY 2014 Area Plan, which delineates the WIAAA services provided in a ten county Planning and Service Area. The counties which WIAAA serves are: Bureau, Henderson, Henry, Knox, LaSalle, McDonough, Mercer, Putnam, Rock Island and Warren. Seniors, caregivers, service providers, local government officials and the general public are invited to attend these public hearings. These hearings will afford an opportunity for public comment on the upcoming Area Plan. WIAAA will then use this information to help formulate its Area Plan which is the application required to be submitted to Illinois Department on Aging.
The WIAAA administers $5million of federal, state and local money for a variety of senior services in ten western Illinois counties. The agency is charged with the responsibility of ensuring the delivery of services such as transportation, home delivered meals, information, legal assistance, caregiver services and many others. Often the help seniors get from these services is enough to keep them independent in their own homes and out of nursing homes. Public input from the community is critical in helping us make good decisions regarding formulating our Area Plan and on how best to use our funds for services for seniors.
The hearings will be held from 10:00 a.m. to noon:
