Residents and staff at Hope Creek Care Center will enjoy a week of special events and activities as part of National Nursing Home Week. The week long celebration will begin Monday, May 13th and run through Friday, May 17th, 2013.

On Monday, County Board Chairman Phil Banaszek will kick off festivities at the nursing home by signing a proclamation declaring the week as National Nursing Home Week followed by a balloon launch on the front lawn. The week will continue with festivities centered around a theme of "Back in the Day…..Years Gone By" focusing on those things that residents enjoyed in their younger years. The National theme designated this year is "TEAM CARE: Everyone Pitches In" conveying the richness of life nursing facility residents possess and personifying the many professionals and caregivers whose dedication and work ethic contributes to achieving excellence and high levels of satisfaction.

The American Health Care Association first established National Nursing Home Week back in 1967. Hope Creek Care Center, Rock Island County's owned and operated facility, carries on the tradition of celebrating this very special week. The facility is a 245 bed skilled facility located at 4343 Kennedy Drive, East Moline. The public is invited to join in the festivities and are welcomed to stop by.

Approximately 1.4 million people live in the nation's 15,679 nursing facilities. Together these facilities employ approximately 1.7 million individuals according to the 2009 National Nursing Home Survey and AHCA Research Department. Statistics show that the U.S. population age 65 and over are expected to double in size within the next 25 years. By 2030, almost one out of every five Americans, 72 million people will be 65 years or older.
