1863 -- 150 years ago: City Marshal Cropper this morning arrested a counterfeiter, whocalled himself John Bush, at the Island City Hotel. He had $640 in $20 bills that werewell executed and likely to deceive any but a good judge of money.
1888 -- 125 years ago: The Mississippi River gradually is sobering up, but high water,even after it has receded, will leave much repair work to be done.
1913 -- 100 years ago: Thomas Casey, an employee at Rock Island Arsenal for 19 years,has retired to enter private business.
