MOLINE -- A new downtown Moline business has a tie with the past.

Pub 1848 recently opened at 1601 River Drive, Suite 106, in RiverStation. Operating partner Ashley Billiet, a graduate of Moline High School, said she wanted to put some history into the name.

The year 1848 is when Moline was incorporated and the year John Deere moved to Moline, she said.

Ms. Billiet worked with owner Mark Roemer to renovate the space, which most recently was The Landing. Work included new flooring, ceiling, tables and other custom touches to make the space cozy, comfortable and feel like a neighborhood pub, Ms. Billiet said.

"It is all about shaking hands and customer service," she said.

Pub 1848 has two patios and offers craft beers, martinis and signature drinks. Hours are 3 p.m. to 2 a.m. Monday through Thursday, 3 p.m. to 3 a.m. Friday, noon to 3 a.m. Saturday, and noon to 2 a.m. Sunday.
