DAVENPORT -- The Rhythm City Casino reopened at 3 p.m. Wednesday following a temporary closure because of Mississippi River flooding.

"The floodwaters have receded, allowing access to our property for guests and employees," said Bill Gustafson, vice president and general manager. "We greatly appreciate the hard work of our team members as we welcome our guests in time for the July Fourth holiday."

The casino closed June 29 because of a rising Mississippi River. Posting a 17.4-foot height on Wednesday afternoon in Rock Island, the river reached 18.1 feet at 4 p.m. Monday. Flood stage is 15 feet.
