KC & the Sunshine Band to play Q-C Aug. 31

BETTENDORF -- As part ofits 40th-anniversary summer tour, the classic disco group KC & the Sunshine Band will perform Aug. 31 on the Bettendorf levee outside the Isle of Capri Hotel.
The showwill start at about 6:15 p.m., when local opening band Smooth Groove will take the stage. KC & theSunshine Band will start soon after that. Tickets are $65 for the exclusive up-close dance pit, $55 for VIP seats and $35 for general admission. Seating will beginat 4 p.m. People with general admission tickets may bring their own chairs or blankets.
Tickets for the show go on sale Friday and can be bought online at theislebettendorf.com or at the IsleOne guestservice center in the casino.
Led by Harry "KC" Casey, now 62, KC & the Sunshine Band formed in 1973. It has sold 100 million records, topping the charts with seven No. 1 singles and three triple platinum albums, winning three Grammy Awards and an American Music Award and becoming the first act since the Beatles to score four No. 1 pop singles in one 12-month period, in 1976.
In 2001, Mr. Casey was honored with the National Association of Recording Arts and Sciences Governor's Award. KC & the Sunshine Band's "Boogie Shoes" recently was selected for preservation by the Library of Congress.
The band's hits include "Get Down Tonight," "That's the Way (I Like It)," "(Shake, Shake, Shake) Shake Your Booty," "I'm Your Boogie Man," "Keep It Comin' Love" and "Please Don't Go." "Boogie Shoes" appeared on the soundtrack album for "Saturday Night Fever," and KC also joined Teri DeSario on her hit "Yes, I'm Ready" in 1979.
