A Coal Valley family of six is staying in a hotel after a Monday morning fire left them temporarily homeless.
About 7:40 a.m., firefighters were called to 12104 92nd Avenue Court, according to Coal Valley Fire Chief David Dunham. He said Orion and Colona firefighters assisted in fighting the blaze.
The fire caused no injuries, Chief Dunham said. The Red Cross helped the family find temporary accommodations in a nearby hotel.
"I think they're doing good despite the challenges they've had with having a fire in their house," Chief Dunham said.
Chief Dunham said he estimates the damage to be about $25,000, and he believes the family will move back in once repairs are made.
"There's no doubt in my mind," he said. "All the damage was confined to the attic space. It's salvageable."
The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Illinois Fire Marshal, Chief Dunham said.
