Roof repairs planned for Carbon Cliff village hall

CARBON CLIFF -- Village trustees Tuesday night approved paying $2,625 to Economy Roofing Co. of Bettendorf to repair the village hall roof.

There has been a constant problem with rainwater damaging the backroom storage area.Economy will repair an improperly flashed gutter installing Type IV fiberglass felt into the existing roof and applying hot asphalt to the area.

The work will begin as soon as possible.

In other business, officials approved the Carbon Cliff – Barstow Fire Protection District using a house at 550 N. 2nd Ave. for practice drills. They also authorized hiring EnviroNet, Inc. of Davenport to conduct an environmental inspection of the home to determine if hazardous materials need to be alleviated before the burns.

Trustees also approved the demolition of a home at 756 1st. Ave.

Brent Morlok, village project manager, reported the "Green Streets" landscaping project on Jay, Dennhardt, 1st and 4th streets is nearing completion. Some trees still need to be planted and grass seeding finished, he said.

Trustees also learned residents on Greenwood Avenue and the Greenwood Avenue Alley have been sent letters informing them there would be no change in garbage pickup during a recently begun drainage project.
