University of Illinois Extension offers an overnight Science Siesta Camp for Girls in 5th and 6th Grades at Niabi Zoo September 27

Girls in 5th and 6th Grades are invited by University of Illinois Extension and 4-H to attend a Science Siesta overnight camp at Niabi Zoo on Friday, September 27 from 5:30 p.m. to Saturday, September 28 at 8:30 a.m. The program is designed to inspire girls to seek careers in the science fields by meeting women scientists and exploring science topics. The program will begin with registration on Friday at 5:30 p.m. followed by dinner and a full slate of science-related activities. They will take a guided Twilight Tour of the Zoo, Meet Women Scientists during several workshops, do some hands-on science activities, take a sensory night hike, and then enjoy a movie, snack and slumber party. The girls head home at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday.

The cost is $40 per girl. There are a limited number of half-fee and full tuition waivers for those who qualify. Registrations are due by September 13 and space is limited. RSVP to University of Illinois Extension at web.extension.illinois.edu/hmrs or call (309) 756-9978.
