MOLINE -- A new "iron" for women may help unwrinkle their lives and leave them feeling refreshed and renewed.

The Iron Sharpens Iron Conference for Women will make its debut on Saturday, Oct. 12,at Calvary Church of the Quad Cities, 4700 53rd St.

Doors will open at 8 a.m., followed by the conference at 9. The one-day event will end at 5 p.m. It will cost $55 in advance per woman, ages 13 and older. An optional lunch will cost $8 per person.

Register through local churches or by calling Roy Abbott at 563-249-0110. Women also may register at the event.

Mr. Abbott, of Fulton, is founder and president of Focal Point Ministries, has organized Iron Sharpens Iron for Men conferences since 2008 and was instrumental in organizing this first "Iron" event for women.

"About two years ago, and after 23 conferences for men in the area, we began to hear from some of the wives and many of their husbands that the women would also like to have a one-day equipping conference similar to the men's events," Mr. Abbott said.

So he enlisted the help of his wife, Kim Abbott, and the couple's daughter, Christine Abbott, along with Brenda Schaefer, of the Quad-Cities Prayer Center in Davenport, and his assistant, Michele Bonde, of Clinton, Iowa.

"We looked at who was speaking with relevance to women today, and we began to look at women's concerns in life, whether it be mothering, being a Godly wife, purity and other areas that might be of interest to women."

Shaunti Feldhahn, of Atlanta, and Danna Demetre, El Cajon, Calif., were signed as keynote speakers at the upcoming event.

Mrs. Feldhahn is a social researcher investigating"the most important things we all need to know about the most important people in our lives -- the vital surprises about the inner thoughts, feelings, fears and needs that they deeply wish we understood," Mrs. Abbott said. "As a result, her research has uncovered the little changes that have big impacts in our lives, marriages, families and workplace relationships."

Mrs. Feldhahn has written books titled "For Women Only: What You Need to Know about the Inner Lives of Men," and "For Men Only: A Straightforward Guide to the Inner Lives of Women."

Mrs. Demetre has worked as a registered nurse specializing in labor and delivery, a marketing manager and corporate trainer for a Fortune 100 company and as a longtime fitness professional before moving into full-time ministry in 1994. She's a former radio talk-show host and producer and a frequent radio and television show guest.

"Through her books, blogs and speaking engagements, she shares her passion to help women discover who they really are in Christ and live more intentional, contented lives for Him," Mrs. Abbott said. "Buried deep within a woman is a God-given, God-ordained desire to succeed in life, to live life passionately; above mediocrity, and to make a difference in her world."

"We call this an equipping conference because we don't want it to be an isolated event, but we want to provide women with tools and resources for year-round Biblical living," Mr. Abbott said.

The conference will include 16 different seminars, including a special session for teenagers, as well as worship time, exhibits and resources.

"Whatever season of life, whatever joys and struggles you are experiencing, God has answers," Mrs. Abbott said, "and His faithfulness will be evident through each experience of the day."

Iron Sharpens Iron Conference for Women will include the following seminars:
-Change Your Habits…Change Your Life.
-The Biblical Secret for Life Balance.
-Protecting Your Purity in an Age of Promiscuity.
-"Invincible" Even When you are Hurting!
-Find your Voice, Tell Your Story: Meaningful Connections in the Midst of Motherhood.
