Press release submitted by Davenport Public Works

Currently there are 45 pieces of equipment out responding to this on-going, heavy snowfall event. Mike Clarke, Public Works Director is extending the snow emergency until 5 a.m., tomorrow, Tuesday, February 18th. The following notice has been posted to the City website.
The current Snow Emergency has been extended. The existing Snow Emergency will not expire until 5am, Tuesday, February 18th. Parking on Posted Snow Routes is prohibited when a Snow Emergency is in effect. Refer to Parking During Snow Emergencies on this page for alternative parking options during the prohibition and for recommended parking in all other areas.
Parking During a Snow Emergency:
Parking on Posted Snow Routes is prohibited when a Snow Emergency has been declared. Vehicles parked on a Posted Snow Route during a Snow Emergency will be subject to ticketing and towing.
As an alternative, residents and visitors along Posted Snow Routes, should:
Park in their driveway or garage, or Park on a nearby side street not Posted as a Snow Route, or In the Downtown Davenport area, park in any one of the city's three parking ramps for free during the Snow Emergency (parking rates apply after the Snow Emergency expires), or In the Hilltop Campus area, park for free in the lot on 15th and Ripley.
In order to help crews provide better service, we encourage all other residents to park off-street or to coordinate with neighbors to park on the even side of the street on even numbered days and the odd side on odd numbered days. Residents should be aware that if, in the judgment of the plow operator, a street is not passable by a plow due to safety concerns caused by vehicular parking, the street will not be plowed. The operator then notifies the office about impassable conditions. Generally a second attempt will be made to plow these streets later in the schedule, but depending on future conditions a subsequent plowing may or may not occur. Off-street and even/odd side of the street parking assists snowplows in moving through narrower streets.
