The Dunkin' Donuts business at 3501 Avenue of the Cities will reopen under new management on Wednesday, Feb. 19. Management includes, from the right, Alex Fee, trainer; Raj Patel, franchise owner; and Andy Patel, trainer.
The store, at 3501 Avenue of the Cities, lost its franchise license in 2012 and closed in March 2013, after a stolen pickup truck crashed through a window and into the dining area.
Raj Patel, of The Hari Group, is the new franchise owner of the Moline and Davenport stores. He said the Moline store will have 20 employees, and hours will be 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days per week.
Mr. Patel said The Hari Group has 20 Dunkin' Donuts in the Chicago area.
The demographics in Moline are favorable for a successful store, he said. "The market shows a dense population and dense traffic counts."
On Tuesday, workers were completing training, and menu boards were getting finishing touches.
According to Rock Island County Recorder's Office records, RBP Development Moline LLC of which Mr. Patel is a member, bought the building in December for $650,000 from TriStar Ventures LLC.
A series of legal issues involving the property and former franchise owners have been in Rock Island Circuit Court and U.S. District Court. The former owner, Sam Patel, no relation to Raj Patel, filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in U.S. District Court last June.
Raj Patel said the store will offer coffee, tea, doughnuts and other food items.
"There will be a lot of little updates to the store in the coming weeks," he said.
