CARBON CLIFF -- Village officials on Tuesday night made plans to maintain the park pond throughout the year.

The board approved hiring Aunt Rhodie's Landscaping & Design Studio of Davenport for $2,100 to provide prairie seeding maintenance around the park pond, in addition to mowing, trimming, weeding and applying herbicide on noxious weeds during the 2014 growing season.

The board also authorized buying ClearPac Plus, an all-in-one pond care package, for $619.99 to prevent algae and muck from gathering in the pond as it did last year. Maintenance personnel will treat the pond every two weeks, for up to six months, starting in early spring.

In other business, the board:

-- Accepted the resignation of Trustee Joyce Swanson who is moving out of Carbon Cliff.

-- Approved spending $2,190.20 to have Mississippi Truck & Trailer Repair of Rock Island to sandblast, repair, prime and paint the complete box on the 2008 Ford F350 Water/Sewer truck.

-- Approved spending $6,464 with Force & Sons Truck Equipment Inc. of Rock Island to install and paint a new bed box and install new mud flaps and body lights on the 2003 F450 Ford.

-- Approved paying $1,450 to $1,550 to Peerless Service Co. of Dubuque, Iowa, to replace the existing 8-inch flanged piping section at Pump House "A".

-- Approved spending $9,319 to buy an Ex-Mark zero-turn 72-inch deck mower with electronic fuel injection and Kohler air-cooled motor from Anchor Lumber of Silvis.
