Rock Camp USA will be in its ninth year this summer, with three sessions running June 16-28, July 7-19 and July 21-Aug. 2.
Campers rehearse for two weeks, record their dress rehearsal, and then perform live in the Redstone Room at River Music Experience for family, friends and fans. Each camper receives a professionally-edited DVD of the show from Mediacom, and all three concerts air on Mediacom Connections Channel 22.
Rock Camp USA activities include working together to form a band, picking out material, learning to rehearse like pros, potential of writing original songs, refining performance skills, recording and taking home a CD of the dress rehearsal and a DVD of the final concert performance, improving teamwork abilities, working with seasoned area musicians and veteran Rock Campers, and performing live in a state-of-the-art venue.
Tuition is $425 per camper and you can register at rivermusicexperience.org or visit the RME admissions desk (2nd and Main streets, Davenport) for registration forms. The deposit (applied toward tuition) is $200, with the balance of $225 due 30 days before the session starts. Tuition is non-refundable without a medical excuse or family emergency.
Discounts are available for those attending multiple summer sessions, and for families with two or more campers participating in the same session. Limited financial assistance is available to those with a legitimate need.
