A perfect week happened at the perfect time for the Quad Cities Prep Football Power Poll.
For the first time this season, the Top 10 teams in the local rankings went unbeaten over a weekend.
An unblemished record came at an exceptionally good time, too.
The last of this season’s 10 installments comes with squads from both sides of the Mississippi River preparing for playoffs after successful regular-season finale’s.
There was a lot of XC going on Saturday, and hopefully this will give a little more credit where credit is due because there were more strong performances than space would allow in today’s paper…

When they are wrong, the voters in the Quad Cities Prep Football Power Poll aren’t afraid to admit a mistake.
For the most-recent reference, just look at today’s ninth installment of the local rankings, a joint effort of WQAD-TV 8, The Dispatch and The Rock Island Argus.
It was an exciting day at Credit Island as some hopes and dreams were realized and other were up in smoke.

A loss of historic proportions. Vengeance for ruining last year’s homecoming. Another chance at revenge unrealized.
All three of those weekend outcomes helped shake up this week’s Quad Cities Prep Football Power Poll.
The biggest tremor was felt in Geneseo, where a team once rated as high as third in the local rankings lost for the first time in school history to NCIC Reagan rival Streator.
That snapped a string of 27 straight victories dating back to the series start in 1981.
Not only did that result drop the fabled “Green Machine” out of our Top 10 for the second time in three weeks, but last week’s No. 10 Leafs received no votes at all for the first time in the two-year history of our poll.
However, Geneseo (4-3) wasn’t alone in taking a tumble in the joint effort between WQAD-TV 8, The Dispatch and The Rock Island Argus.

What a rough couple of weekends it’s been for the Sherrard High School football team.
The previously unbeaten Tigers have dropped their last two games by a combined 71-14, and this past weekend’s 30-0 setback to arch-rival Orion cost Sherrard more than its lead in the Olympic Conference standings.
From a season-high No. 5 rating just two Mondays ago, Sherrard (4-2) has free-fallen completely out of voting consideration in the Quad Cities Prep Football Power Poll.
However, the Tigers are not alone in this week’s local rankings, which were determined again by balloting from the sports staffs at WQAD-TV 8, The Dispatch, The Rock Island Argus and the QC Leader newspapers.
