Please just go vote!

The Rock Island mayor, city council, and staff members have a vision for our great city which involves the commercial development of the city while continuing to provide great services for our citizens. We want to be a proactive community rather than a reactive one, and to do this we are continually looking for ways to improve.

The development at Jumer's Crossing is one vision that will contribute to the growth of our community. While there has been some negative reaction to the purchase of this land and the plan to develop it, the overwhelming positive response is what should be noted.

The Jumer's Crossing Vision has been carefully crafted by Mayor Dennis Pauley, the city council, Delaware North and Riverstone. The 90-acre site was purchased by the city at a fair premium, nearly half the appraised value, considering the current market price of farm land.

As with our vision, this investment will pay for itself tenfold as the development progresses. Not only will our city benefit financially from this investment, but our community will also gain a tangible asset which will further serve the needs of our citizens.

Mayor Pauley and the council (myself included) have made it our mission to work toward the betterment of the City Rock Island and the Jumer's Crossing development is a significant step in the right direction.

Ald. Stephen Tollenaer.

4th Ward, Rock Island
