green rummage and bake sale at the 4-H Building,
Rock Island County Fairgrounds, Archer Drive and 42nd Ave., East Moline. The preview sale is from 4-7 p.m. Thursday; admission is $5, free for kids. Regular hours are 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday; 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, with free admission. A live consignment auction will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday. Proceeds from items donated to the live auction will be split with 4-H and the donor. Other proceeds will support Rock Island County 4-H and Extension programs. Quarter Auction fundraiser at 5 p.m. A quarter auction is a combination of a raffle and an auction. Attendees buy numbered paddles. A corresponding numbered ball is placed in a container. An item is held up and described. Depending on its value ($1-$61+), one to four quarters are required to bid on the item. Bidders put their quarters in a basket and hold up their paddles. A ball is chosen from the container. The person holding that numbered paddle up wins the item. If your number is called and you have not bid, then another number is called until someone wins.
