Date: Wednesday, February 13, 2013 A SPECTRA: Local Lovers Edition poetry reading will begin at 8 p.m. at Rozz-Tox, 2108 3rd Ave., Rock Island. Anyone can perform one original poem, song, story, soliloquy, or performance art piece which is no more than 5 minutes long. To participate, email with the subject "Local Lovers." A sign-up sheet also will be available that night. Also, local poets will write love poems or fragments for $5. It is sponsored by the Midwest Writing Center. Call (563) 324-1410 for details.

1988 -- 25 years ago: Hampton's sesquicentennial committee and the Hampton HistoricalSociety have scheduled a full slate of activities, which will be held throughout the year, to celebrate the village's 150th birthday. The first celebration will be the Memorial Dayprogram at 10 a.m. May 30, at the Brettun and Black Store Museum on River Road. Therewill be a sesquicentennial display.
