1884 -- 125 years ago: The bay in the Mississippi river at New Boston is proving a popular retreat for Tri-City duck hunters.

1909 -- 100 years ago: Wallace Treichler, city engineer, has been awarded a contract for draining a large tract of land in Missouri.

1934 -- 75 years ago: Denkmann Memorial Library at Augustana College this week ordered books valued at approximately $1,700.

1984 -- 25 years ago:More of Moline's Rock River valley opened for development this morning as officials snipped the ribbon to open about $1.1 million in road improvements. The project paved 52nd Avenue between 3rd and 7th Streets and completed both streets up to Black Hawk Road. Eighty percent of the project was financed with federal funds.
