Press release submitted by Deere-Wiman House and Butterworth Center
Three talented soloists and chamber musicians who joined forces to create their own unique sound will perform March 8 in a Fridays at Deere-Wiman event. Renowned for performances marked by passion, gusto and vigor, the New York Empire Trio showcases a repertoire that runs the gamut from early classics to the music of today.
Following a highly acclaimed Carnegie Hall debut, the trio was named Featured Artists of the Month by the Obama Music, Arts and Entertainment organization. Today, the New York Empire Trio regularly blends works from the standard chamber music literature with little-known masterworks, enjoying enthusiastic audience accolades.
Trio members Hristo Popov (violin), Kalin Ivanov (cello) and Elena Antimova (piano) are famed musicians in their own right, each the winner of esteemed honors. Prior to formation of the trio, each performed as active soloists and chamber musicians around the world. Touring widely in the U.S. and Europe, the trio has developed a specialization on Eastern European composers, and is also well known for its innovative educational programs.
This event is part of the Fridays at Deere-Wiman House series funded by the William Butterworth Memorial Trust and the Quad City Arts Visiting Artist Program. New York Empire Trio, 3 p.m., Friday, March 8, Deere-Wiman House, 817 11th Avenue, Moline, Ill. Admission: free; refreshments following.
