WICHITA, Kan. (AP) -- A Muscatine, Iowa, woman who was married a week earlier died when a vehicle overturned while towing the newlyweds' disabled car on the Kansas Turnpike.
Norma Zapata, 19, was pronounced dead at the scene. Three other people from Muscatine, all family members of her new husband, were injured.
Kansas authorities said Norma and Roman N. Zapata II, 19, of Muscatine were married the weekend of July 25. Sometime Sunday, their car became disabled on the turnpike, so Roman contacted his father, Roman N. Zapata, 50.
About noon, the elder Zapata arrived and hooked up the disabled car to his Chevrolet Tahoe and began towing it.
``He went to pass another vehicle and was moving back into the driving lane when the towed vehicle began to sway, lost control, which went into a ditch and overturned,'' a patrol dispatcher said.
