Library hosting potluck dinner and movie
The Friends of the River Valley Library have rescheduled the Christmas potluck and movie for noon Thursday in the Community Room at the River Valley Library, 214 S. Main St., Port Byron. Learn the art of paper cutting on Saturday
The Rock Island County Home and Community Education Association will host a paper-cutting class from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the Deere Wiman Carriage House, 1105 8th St., Moline. The cost is $3, and the focus will be on cutting intricate snowflakes. The workshop is limited to 50 people.

Our Lady of Grace Catholic Academy, 603 18th Ave., East Moline, is holding its third annual Mardi Gras Magic Raffle. Tickets are $100, and only 600 will be sold. Prizes range from $10,000 for first place; $5,000 for second place;three $2,500 prizes; and five $1,199 prizes.
Revenue left after prize money is awarded will go to the school building fund.
The raffle drawing will be during the Mardi Gras celebration in Cleary Hall on Feb. 9. Participants do not need to be at the event to win.

Hear 'Abraham Lincoln in Song' in Geneseo
Award-winning folksinger Chris Vallillo will present "Abraham Lincoln in Song" from 3 to 4:15 p.m. Jan. 26 at the Geneseo Public Library, 805 N. Chicago St.
He uses Lincoln's words, contemporary folk music and period folk songs to tell the story. The program is historically accurate and has received the endorsement of the Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commission.
Mr. Vallillo plays six-string and bottleneck slide guitar. The program is free and open to the public.
Author to discuss airport book
David Coopman will discuss researching his book on the Quad City International Airport at 9 a.m. Jan. 23 at Fulton's Windmill Cultural Center. There will be coffe treats at 9 a.m., followed by the talk. The event is open to the public.
Book discussion planned in Fulton
