The American Scandinavian Association at Augustana is hosting a live webcast May11 to celebrate the 375th anniversary of the New Sweden Colony. In 1638 the tall ship, Kalmar Nyckel, arrived on the Delaware coast with a crew of Swedes and Finns who then established the New Sweden Colony. The event begins at 6:30 p.m. with the King of Sweden, H.M. Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia and Finland's Speaker of Parliament, Eero Heinäluomo and his spouse Satu Sitonen-Heinäluomo scheduled to arrive at 7:00 p.m. concluding about 10:00 p.m. The local event will be a casual "come and go" with cookies and coffee available in the foyer.
