Anthony L. Sotelo, 75, of Woodhull, died Sunday, Dec. 23, 2012, at his home.
Graveside services are 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 31, at the National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Visitation is from 3-5 p.m. Sunday at Peterson-Wallin-Knox Funeral Home in Woodhull. He was born Oct. 6, 1937, in Elmore, Minn., to Stanley and Maria Teneria Sotelo. He graduated from high school in Albert Lea, Minn., and married Dorothy Martel on May 15, 1965, in Moline.
Anthony was a Golden Gloves Boxing champ and enjoyed teaching boxing to area youth in his own gym in Woodhull for many years. He was an Air Force veteran.
Anthony was employed as a brick mason in the construction industry, retiring in 2002. He was a member of the Rockford Union Local No. 6 and loved to read and do crossword puzzles.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; two daughters, Lisa Sotelo, Idaho, and Julie Carter, Indiana; three sons, Delano Sotelo, Billings, Mont., Anthony Sotelo, Moline, Stanley, Great Lakes, Ill.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
His parents; one son, Wade; one nephew, Nicho; six sisters; and three brothers preceded him in death.
