Cheryl Enderle Pople, 74, of Rock Island, died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012, at her home after a brief illness.
Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island, where the Mohassan Caldron No. 2 will conduct a service at 7 p.m. A memorial service is scheduled at noon Friday at South Park Presbyterian Church, Rock Island. Private burial is Friday at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to WVIK, Rock Island.
Cheryl Ann Whitcomb was born Sept. 28, 1938, in Davenport, the second daughter of Clifford and Delora Call Whitcomb. She married Richard Enderle in Davenport in December 1956. They had three children, Julia (Jeffrey) Petersen, Park View, Iowa, Lisa (David) Finlayson, Auburn, Wash., and Scott (Julie) Enderle, Frisco, Texas. She was grandmother to Emily (Petersen) Schaub, Adam Petersen, Joanna Finlayson, Katie Enderle and John Enderle; and great-grandmother to Arthur and Ethan Schaub. Cheryl also is survived by her sister, Carolyn (Ardo) Holmgrain, of Rock Island, and their children, Kent Holmgrain and Ardith Holmgrain (Juliusz Sas).
She married Murray Pople in June 2001 in Rock Island and is survived by him and his six children and their families.
Cheryl was active in her children's early lives in Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, PTA and Band Parents. She loved music and was an accomplished pianist. She is a former board member of Quad-City Symphony and also volunteered for WVIK radio (where she enjoyed reading to the blind), Genesis West Auxiliary and Eastern Star, Mohassan Caldron No. 2 (Past Mighty Chosen One). She was a member of South Park Presbyterian Church and active in Sternwheelers Mariners, doing mission work in the United States.
