Deno Orlandi, 100, of Mark, Ill., passed away Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012 at St. Margaret's Hospital.
The Dysart-Cofoid Funeral Chapel in Granville, Ill., is assisting the family and cremation rites were accorded, per request. Memorial Mass will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Granville. A private immediate family burial will be held later.
Deno was born on April 9, 1912, the fourth son of Angelica Baldini and Ricardo Orlandi, in Dalzell, Ill. Deno graduated from Dalzell elementary school. As a young man, Deno worked on various farms in the area and later in the coal mines of Illinois.
Deno married Mary Venturelli on Sept. 29, 1935. They celebrated 70 years of marriage. Mary preceded him in death in April 2006.
Deno and Mary moved to Mark in 1941, where Deno established Orlandi Service Station for 32 years. He also worked for the Orsinger Bakery, American Nicheloid, the State of Illinois Drivers License division and Lake Thunderbird Association.
Deno was a member of the Mark Fire Department, Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Holy Name Society. Both Deno and Mary enjoyed dancing and their cottage in Wisconsin.
He is survived by his daughters Donna (Jim) Holevoet, Atkinson, and Norma (Al) Mansfield, Pontiac, Ill.; five grandchildren, Angela (Spencer) Klaassen, William (Kiyoko) Holevoet, Joseph (Jo Lea) Holevoet, Michael (Becky) Ublish and Doreen (Diane) Ublish; and six great-grandchildren, Hannah, Henry, Shinju Grace, Kayli, Jenna and Braden.
