Majel L. Schriver, 83, a resident of Illini Restorative Care Center, Silvis, formerly of Moline, died Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, at Illini Restorative Care Center.
Services for Ms. Schriver will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 15, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 201-E 4th Ave., Milan. Visitation will be Tuesday from 9 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home, prior to the service. Burial will be in the Hamlet Cemetery, Hamlet, Ill. Memorials may be made to the Hamlet-Perryton Presbyterian Church, Hamlet or to Humility of Mary Housing, Davenport.
Majel was born on Dec. 2, 1929, in Reynolds, a daughter of George and Izora Lee Schriver.
Ms. Schriver was a graduate of Western Illinois University, Macomb, Ill., and was an elementary school teacher. She began her teaching career at the Reynolds Elementary School in Reynolds. She then taught for the East Moline School District and retired in 1985 after 35 years teaching. She was a member of the Illinois Retired Teachers Association, Blackhawk Unit. Majel enjoyed traveling, cross stitching and spending time with her family and many longtime and dear friends.
Survivors include her nieces and nephews, Richard (Mariela) Skinner, Dubuque, Iowa, Bob (Dorothy) Schriver, Minneapolis, Minn., Bill Schriver, Fort Lee, N.J., Connie (Ed) Cervantes, Bettendorf, and Mary Skinner-Staver, Bettendorf; and several great-nieces and nephews. Majel was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Catherine (Clarence) Skinner, Mylo (Jane) Schriver and Robert Schriver. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.wheelanpressly.com.
