Norine M. Coers, 92, of Cordova, died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, at Aspen Rehab & Health Care, Silvis.
Services will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, at Gibson-Bode Funeral Home, Port Byron. Burial will be at the Cordova Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:30 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Aspen Rehab & Health Care, or to a charity of choice.
Norine was born March 11, 1920, in Whitewater, Wis., the daughter of Roswell and Myrtle Way McCaslin. She married Harold Coers on Oct. 8, 1938, in Clinton, Iowa. He preceded her in death in 1995.
Norine was employed at the Cordova Post Office, where she retired after 25 years of service. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cordova.
Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family, especially attending her grandchildren's and great-grandchildren's activities. Norine always will be remembered for her hours and hours of mowing.
Norine is survived by her children, Wayne Coers, Cordova, Juanita (Jerry) Nelms, Cordova; six grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Kenneth and Milo McCaslin; and a sister, Dolores Hoppe.
