QC college men's basketball

Clarke 70, SAU 63: On a night when St. Ambrose sophomore standout Nick Frazier reached a career milestone, the Fighting Bees (9-18, 3-8 MCC) had a very forgettable outing in the Midwest Collegiate Conference setback.

Frazier came into the game needing just 12 points to be the third sophomore to reach 1,000 points and had that by the midway point in the first half to join Josh Miller and Jeff Stowasser with that accomplishment. Frazier finished with a game-high 26 points and grabbed nine rebounds.

Darren Galloway scored 17 points and hauled down eight rebounds and Moline's Justin Blondell scored 14 points. SAU had only five players score, with only two points added off the bench with Michael Knoll's late bucket.

The final few minutes couldn't have gone much worse for the Fighting Bees, who were right in the game with five minutes left. The Bees turned the ball over three times in the final two minutes, had defensive breakdowns that allowed Clarke open drives to the hoop, and were out-hustled down the stretch.

Kris Brooks led four Clarke players in double-digit scoring, pouring in 17 points with the help of 9-of-11 free-throw shooting, He also hauled down a game-high 16 rebounds.

QC college women hoops

SAU 78, Clarke 64: Katie Jensen's 15-point, eight-rebound first half gave the St. Ambrose Queen Bees a nice start and a 47-27 halftime lead en route to the Midwest Collegiate Conference road victory. Jensen finished off her double-double of 19 points and 12 rebounds to help the Queen Bees (21-6, 7-4 MCC) secure third place and a first-round home game in next week's MCC Tournament. Jensen had plenty of support as Lauren Cash poured in 17 points, Sam Saladino dropped in 14 and freshman reserve Devan Griffin added 10 points and hauled down five rebounds. Cash also grabbed five rebounds to go with five steals. The Queen Bees close out the regular season at home on Saturday vs. AIB.

SAU tops St. Xavier: The records deceived in this one as the St. Ambrose Fighting Bees (11-3, 7-1 MAMVIC) had to rally to get past visiting St. Xavier (2-10, 2-6) by games scores of 25-14, 24-26, 25-17, 29-27 and 15-8.
