St. Ambrose University volleyball standouts Tori Matzen and Catherine Wildner earned All-Midwest Collegiate Conference first-team honors as selected by the league's coaches. The Queen Bees, who finished the season with a 19-13 record, also had two honorable mention selections in Jackie DalCerro and Kailey Scott.
Matzen, an Orion graduate, led the Queen Bees with 314 kills and 101 blocks. She also recorded 115 digs and 23 service aces. Wildner had 260 kills, second-best on the team, as well as 386 digs, 380 assists and 19 aces. DalCerro logged a whopping 596 digs, 83 assists and 34 aces.Scott had a team-best 631 assists to go with a team-high 246 digs and 17 aces.
Adams shines at Benedictine
Nicole Adams recently completed an impressive junior volleyball season at Benedictine University where she garnered not only conference, but national honors for her play.
The 6-foot-1 junior middle hitter from Geneseo was named NCAA Division III women's Honorable Mention All-American by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA). She also was an AVCA Midwest All-Region first team selection.
Adams, also a first team All-Northern Athletics Conference selection, helped lead Benedictine back to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2004. Adams recorded 342 kills for the season, second most on the team. She also registered just 69 errors all year for a hitting percentage of .360, ranking second in the conference. Adams also recorded 112 blocks, finishing third in the conference.
