Using FTP Programs to Upload a Personal Web Page

NOTE: Due to hardware problems, Quad-Cities OnlineŽ has new software to use for personal web pages. There are several changes from the previous instructions, so please read thoroughly.

There are many options of FTP applications that you can use to create a personal web page. Two of the more common Windows based applications (available on our EZ-Internet CD or at the bottom of our Upload Page ) are CuteFTP and WS-FTP . Below are some brief instructions on how to set up and upload using these FTP clients. If you have questions or use an application not covered here, please refer to your FTP program's Help Files. Our technical support staff is not equipped to answer questions on FTP or FTP applications, only on the settings. It is assumed that the the customer will have spent some time learning HTML and FTP information before attempting a personal web site.

Before uploading a page, make sure to upload and save all files as lower case. The new page server is case sensitive and entering upper case or lower case letters will make a difference.

To transfer files, select from the Left side of the screen the file you wish to upload. Click the arrow to transfer the file to the right side of the screen.

Leave all other blanks as they are.
