Crunchy Bean Patties

1 small green pepper, chopped
1 medium onion, chopped
1 tablespoon margarine
1 can (16 ounces) kidney beans, drained, save liquid
1/2 cup whole-wheat or white flour
1 egg
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup unhulled sesame seeds (see note)
4 tablespoons vegetable oil, for frying

Brown pepper and onion lightly in margarine. Put drained beans in a bowl and mash slightly. Stir in flour and
1/3 cup of the bean liquid. Add egg, salt, sesame seeds, green pepper and onion. Mix well.
Heat oil in frying pan. Drop bean mixture by large spoonfuls into the pan and fry until browned on both
sides.
