Butterscotch Bread

1 egg, beaten
1 cup brown sugar
1 1/2 tablespoons melted butter
2 cups sifted flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup sour milk or buttermilk
1/2 cup chopped nuts
1/2 cup chopped dates


Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix eggs, sugar and butter. Sift dry ingredients and add to sugar mixture, alternating with milk. Add dates and nuts last. Place dough in greased and floured bread pan. Bake for one hour.
