Aunt Sarah's Salad

1 head red leaf lettuce, torn in bits
1 head green leaf lettuce, torn in bits
1 small red onion, sliced thinly
Mayonnaise
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup bacon bits
2 cups Swiss cheese

Toss lettuces in large bowl with red onion slices and top with a layer of mayonnaise. Sprinkle sugar over the greens and then add a layer of Swiss cheese and a layer of bacon bits (real bacon bits tast best). Just before serving, toss the salad thoroughly making sure the mayonnaise and sugar dressing coat the greens throughout.
