Best Sugar Cookies

Ingredients

1 cup margarine
1 cup vegetable oil
1 cup powdered sugar
1 cup granulated sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon soda
3/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
4 cups sifted flour

Instructions

Cream margarine with sugars. Add eggs one at a time. Add oil and vanilla, beat thoroughly. Add flour sifted with soda and cream of tartar. Chill well. Drop with spoon. I flatten with bottom of glass dipped in red and green sugars. Bake on ungreased cookie sheet at 350 degrees for 12-15 minutes.

1989 -- 25 years ago: The B-29 Super-Fortress bomber is impressive looking, and it did the job during World War II. Its claim to fame is dropping the atomic bombs in Japan to end the war. Only one B-29 is operational in the world today. It is on display at the Quad City Airport in Moline until Friday.
