Round Steak with Gravy

3 pounds round steak, 1-inch thick
1/3 cup flour
3 tablespoons shortening
1 large onion, chopped (about 1 cup)
1/2 cup water
1 can (10-3/4 ounces) cream of mushroom soup

Sprinkle flour over meat and pound in both sides. Cut meat into serving size pieces. Brown meat in shortening over medium heat for 15 minutes. Mix onion, water and soup. Pour over meat. Cover tightly. Simmer at low heat for 1-1/2 to 2 hours or until tender.
