I had some left over roast beef. I looked everywhere for a hash recipe. I finally found what I was looking for in the war time edition of "The Victory Cookbook 1943."

Ingredients

4 tablespoons butter or other fat (bacon grease)
1/2 cup chopped onion
2 cups chopped cold roast beef
2 to 4 cups chopped boiled potatoes
1 cup beef gravy
Salt and pepper

Instructions

Melt fat, add chopped onions and cook until almost done; don't brown. Add remaining ingredients plus 1 cup beef gravy, salt and pepper to taste. Heat throughly, stirring occasionally until brown.
