Chess Cake Bars

This dessert has been a favorite of family and friends for 25 years.

Ingredients

1 box (18.2 ounces) yellow cake mix
1 stick butter, softened
1 lightly beaten egg
1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese
1 box (16 ounces) powdered sugar
3 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

Mix cake mix, butter and egg and press into the bottom of an 9x13-inch dish to form crust. Cream the cream cheese, powdered sugar, eggs and vanilla. Pour over crust and bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes. This will fill pan while baking, then settle. Cool, cut into bars and refrigerate left-overs.
