Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients

1 cup shortening
3/4 cup brown sugar
3/4 cup white sugar
2 eggs, well beaten
1 teaspoon baking soda dissolved in 2 tablespoons hot water
3 cups flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 package (7 ounces) chocolate chips
1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

Cream together first three ingredients; add egg and baking soda. Add remaining ingredients. Drop by teaspoons on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 15 minutes at 350 degrees. Makes 4 dozen cookies.
