Peanut Butter Balls

Ingredients

1 pound (3-1/2 cups) powdered sugar
2 sticks butter or margarine
1-1/3 cups peanut butter
1 cup graham cracker crumbs (about 12 crackers)
6 ounces (1 cup) chocolate chips
1/2 block paraffin

Instructions

Cream butter or margarine and sugar together. Add peanut butter and crumbs. Mix thoroughly and chill. Melt chocolate and paraffin in top of a double boiler. Make small balls from the chilled mixture and place on waxed paper lined cookie sheets. Dip in the chocolate mixture and lay on waxed paper. Makes 5 dozen.

1964 -- 50 years ago: THE ARGUS will be election headquarters for Rock Island County tomorrow night, and the public is invited to watch the operation. The closing of the polls at 6 p.m. will mark the start of open house in the newsroom. Visitors will see staff members receiving, tabulating and posting returns.
1989 -- 25 years ago: Few bricks actually tumbled, but no one seemed to mind as about 1,000 people gathered to celebrate the formal start of demolition at the site of a downtown civic center.
