Fresh Apple Cake with Sauce

Cake:
1/4 cup butter or margarine
1 cup sugar
1 egg beaten
1 cup flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 teaspoon cinnamon
2 cups finely chopped apples (2-3 apples)
1 teaspoon vanilla
Caramel sauce:
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons flour
1 cup water
1/4 cup butter

For the cake, mix butter, sugar and egg until creamy. Add and mix remaining cake ingredients in order. Bake in greased 8 or 9-inch pan for 40 minutes at 350 degrees.
For the sauce, all caramel sauce ingredients and boil 2 minutes or until thick. Add 1 teaspoon vanilla. Serve hot over pieces of cake.
