Ingredients

1 cup sugar
1 packaged chopped dates
1 cup chopped nuts
3 heaping tablespoons fresh bread crumbs
3 eggs
1 teaspoon baking powder
Whipped cream for topping

Instructions

Beat eggs. Add dates, nuts and bread crumbs. Add baking powder in sugar and rest of ingredients. Pour into greased 8-inch pan. Set pan in another pan of warm water. Bake for 40 minutes at 350 degrees. Serve with whipped cream.

Richard Evans, John Harris, George Crampton and William Getz, all of Moline, Charles Roberts, Rock Island, and Charles Johnson, of Hampton.
1989 -- 25 years ago: Indian summer is quickly disappearing as temperatures slide into the 40s and 50s this week. Last week, highs were in the 80s.
