Uncle Herbert's Old-Timey Molasses Cake

Ingredients

1/2 cup Crisco shortening
1 cup molasses
1/2 cup sugar
2 eggs
2 cups self-rising flour
1 teaspoon ginger
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 cup hot water

Instructions

In a large mixing bowl, mix Crisco, molasses and sugar together until smooth. Add eggs and beat on low with electric mixer. Add flour and spices and mix well. Add water and mix.

Pour into a well-greased 9-by-13-inch sheet pan and bake at 350 degrees F. for 30-35 minutes.
