Oatmeal Chip Cookies

Ingredients

1 cup sugar
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 cup margarine or butter, softened
1/2 cup shortening
2 eggs
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups quick-cooking rolled oats
1 cup walnuts
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

Instructions

Heat oven to 375 degrees. In a large bowl, combine sugar, brown sugar, margarine and shortening; beat until light and fluffy. Add eggs; blend well. Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup; level off. Add flour, baking soda and salt to sugar mixture; mix well. Add oats, walnuts and chocolate chips; blend well. Drop dough by rounded teaspoonfuls 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake at 375 degrees for 9 to 11 minutes or until light golden brown. Remove from cookie sheets. Makes 5 dozen.
