Ingredients

2 pounds round steak
2 tablespoons black pepper
2 tablespoons garlic powder
Salt to taste
1 can (29 ounces) tomato sauce
1/2 cup water
1 green pepper
1 onion
2 tablespoons oregano
2 1/2 cups water
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 cup brown rice

Instructions

Coat a deep 12-inch skillet with cooking spray. Season steak with black pepper, garlic powder and salt. Brown meat on both sides in covered skillet. Add tomato sauce, water, green pepper, onion and oregano to skillet and bring to a simmer for 5 minutes. Bake in 300 degree oven, covered, for 2 hours or until meat is tender. Meanwhile, in a 2-quart saucepan with a lid, bring water to a boil. Add salt and rice, cover and simmer for 20 minutes. When ready to serve, spoon meat and sauce over rice. Serves 6 people.
